Happy 6th Birthday Aidan!!

Happy 6th birthday to Aidan! I can't believe that 6 years has already gone by. I still remember when I was pregnant with Aidan and how it was smooth sailing (not even a day of morning sickness) until about 32 weeks when he tried to make an early appearance. Luckily, we were able to "hold" him in for another 4.5 weeks through the 2 weekly doctor visits and numerous ultrasounds checking on the growing baby inside. The doctor kept asking for one more week and we gave her almost 5! One day when we went in for an ultrasound check, they noticed the amniotic fluid had dropped to a low level of 3, so we headed straight to the hospital to meet our new son. After about 24 hours of labor on pitocin, Aidan Grey was born April 7th 2004 at 2:17PM via an emergency c-section. I remember they gave Jason size medium scrubs (which of course he had to exchange!) and I was so tired that I could barely keep my eyes open, but we were so excited to meet our little man.

Once Aidan was born, he had trouble regulating his blood sugar and he had to have 8 sugar water bottles within the first 24 hours of life. After that, he was healthy as a horse. He didn't nurse well, but due to a stubborn mommy, we soon got the hang of it! Aidan has been off the growth charts since he was 2 months old and is still growing at an unbelievable rate!

He wasn't much of a sleeper for the first year, however once he started sleeping well all night, he never stopped! He still needs his 12 hours a night to function the next day!

As a toddler, Aidan continued to amaze us as he learned new things and absorbed all that was going on around him. He has a memory similar to an elephant...never forgets anything! He reminds us of events that happened years ago and is usually 100% correct on the details! He pays very close attention to details.

In preschool and PreK, he learned his letters and numbers and how to read some words. This past Fall, Aidan started Kindergarten and has progressed well with learning new things. He is reading beginner books and is doing well in science and math. He has also been doing extra classes after school such as Mad Science, Young Rembrandts (drawing) and Spanish. He loves learning new things!

I can't wait to see what Aidan grows into as an Adult.....but I can wait a few more years to have my little guy around. Adult Aidan can wait another 12 years!

I love how caring and loving Aidan is to everyone he meets. He really loves little kids and babies. He is a great big brother to Carson and a great son to Jason and I. Love you Aidan and Happy Birthday!!!
